Takeshi Asa, Chief of the Emulsification and Dispersion Technology
Laboratory receives the 2003 Ministry of Science Award for Meritorious
Service in Advancement of Science and Technology for development
of the high-speed, thin-film spin mixer, T.K. Filmix (patent 3072467).
The Ministry of Science's Meritorious Service Award is divided into
four categories:
- Meritorious Service in Science and Technology: Awarded to a
person who has shown outstanding service in science and technology
- Meritorious Work in Research and Development: Awarded to a person
who has achieved superior results in scientific and technological
research development.
- Meritorious Contribution to Advancement of Science and Technology:
Awarded to a person who has made a major contribution to the advancement
of science and technology.
- Meritorious Service in the Academic Development of Science and
Technology: Awarded to a person who has made major contributions
in promotion of science and technology.
The
award for Meritorious Service in Advancement of Science and Technology
was first established in 1981. Since then, 23 people have received
the award. This year, Mr. Asa was selected among 31 applicants.
The awards ceremony was held April 17th at Toranomon Pastoral as
part of the 44th Science and Technology Week. The photo shows Mr.
Asa accepting the award.
